A Unique Combination . . . For Such a Time As This

Not too long ago, at a NATO naval conference, an American admiral found himself standing at a cocktail reception with high-ranking naval officers from most of the NATO countries, including English, Canadian, and American command-grade and flag-grade officers. Everyone in the group (regardless of nationality) was chatting away in English, but a French officer in the group suddenly voiced a complaint.

“Whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English.” He then asked,… Continue

Vote Roll Call on Health Bill . . . Save for November

The 219-212 roll call Sunday by which the House passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H. R. 3590).

There are currently 4 vacancies in the 435-member House. (Since, if those seats weren't vacant, Speaker Pelosi would have needed 220 votes for passage, I'm now curious as to who last occupied those seats, and whether or not they were reliable "n… Continue

Dems Flopping The Wrong Way

A friend of mine received a report from the floor of the House of Representatives, from an extremely reliable source, that Democratic Majority Whip James Clyburn is reporting that four Democratic Congressmen that were no votes on the healthcare bill have now switched to a yes vote. We need to flood their offices with phone calls, faxes, and (if local) go by their offices. Especially Altmire from Pennsylvannia. Rep. John Boccieri, Ohio, 16th http://boccieri.hContinue

Emergency City Council Meeting in Standish

The City of Standish is having an emergency city council meeting today (4:00 to 6:00 PM) to decide if they will allow relocation of the Guantanamo terrorist detainees to be housed in their city. As best as can be determined, the Obama Administration is directly pressuring the city government to accept this offer. If you know anyone who can make the meeting (I know, short fuse request), then urge them to get there. The point of contact at Standish City Council is Ms. Janice Cuttitta . Below is th… Continue

Tea Parties vs. Obamunism

(originally posted on RightMichigan) The guy wasn’t in office three months and he’s already inspired an entry in the Urban Dictionary – with any luck it’ll become a permanent entry in the American English lexicon (as a warning to future generations). Neither Merriam-Webster nor Oxford has picked it up yet. Obamunism: (noun – portmanteau of “Obama” and “Communism”) 1. A theory or system of social organization that advocates… Continue

Health Care . . . Speak softly and carry a REALLY BIG stick

(This is cross-posted from Duke Over America, written by T. LaDuke) In case you haven’t heard, there is a national raging debate on health care going on in this country. I would imagine with all the yelling and screaming that is going on with this issue you would have to be A. (Dead, in which case you don’t need health care) or B. (Up on the international space station, w… Continue

As promised at Thursday night’s general meeting, I’m going to post a few things (or links to them anyway) that reflect what’s going on within the budget talks in Lansing: Reinvigorate Reinvest Reform – On July 22, Michigan House Republican Leader Kevin Elsenheimer (R-105, Bellaire) and the caucus unveiled a comprehensive package of government reforms, targeted budget cuts and priori… Continue

Most Americans Don’t Know What “Rights” Really Are

Tina Dupont read this story from Rush Limbaugh at our 23 July meeting, and has asked me to transcribe and post it. The faithful transcription follows: RUSH: Rich Hrebic, American Thinker.com: “One Step Closer to Losing Your Right to Health Care.” – Isn’t the point of the Democrats’ push to reform the healthcare system based on establishing health care as a right? That’s what the politicians say, of course. But in reality the result will be the exact opposite. Part of the problem is that… Continue

This is the manuscript of my speech as presented at the Iosco County Freedom Week on Monday, July 6, 2009. I’m using the logo below as a place-holder so that I’ll know where to stick the video once I have it.

Bi-Partisan Attack on Michigan Veterans Benefits

(originally posted on Right Michigan) Here we are, almost through the Second Annual Right Michigan Bloggers’ Challenge, and all I’ve managed to do so far is post a few responses. You’d think that I’d dropped off the map or something. The fact of the matter is that I’ve been doing some follow-up investigation into the subject addressed in a blog post on the… Continue

Veterans' March On Lansing!!! Protest Governor's Executive Order.

This post is in follow up to my post from a week or so ago about Governor Granholm going too far. I have incorporated that information into the edit of this post, so that all of the information is in one place. We Veterans are generally a pretty civil bunch. We’ll put up with a considerable amount of crap from our government and almost always take it in stride, being of the belief that stupidity should… Continue

Attention Governor Granholm . . . You Have Gone Too Far!

(cross-posted from Right Michigan) We Veterans are generally a pretty civil bunch. We’ll put up with a considerable amount of crap from our government and almost always take it in stride, being of the belief that stupidity should be suffered while it is sufferable. But what I learned yesterday had me about at a gasket-blowing, blood-pressure-cuff-rupturing, penny-nail-spitting, profanity-laced tirade. Really, I needed the bal… Continue
