- No, I do not think the Republicans are as culpable. I believe that the Democrats have followed a generations-long "death-by-a-thousand-cuts" to our American government, and now that they have enough power to invoke their REAL platform without hindrance, that is what they're doing, first by taking fiscal irresponsibility to the extreme and trying to use Bush as an excuse, taking no responsibility for their own actions, all to hide their real intent to destroy capitalism to claim it doesn't work, which we know is a lie. Democrat Leftists have co-opted education, journalism, Colleges and Universities, and broadcast news media in following the Marxist premise found in the Communist Manifesto: "He who controls information, controls the world." Toward that end, they are willingly self-censored arms of the State in that they give a pass to Leftists when they're in power, and when not, unfairly and wrongly lie-about and criticize Conservatives to spread misinformation, misrepresenting and distorting facts, following the marketing premise that frequency of statement makes truth. The co-option of these informational institutions must change, be reversed and returned to the people.
Did anyone get the clear point across yet that it was Barney Frank, et al. who destroyed the housing markets with their twisting the arms of the financiers to make bad loans to people who couldn't afford them? The Dems ended up blaming Wall Street, but Wall Street had to go along with the law, seeking to spread risk with derivatives, born of the legislation during the Clinton Administration.
Because of the Democrats during the Clinton Years, N. Korea now has nuclear weapon capability by "helping them" with nuclear power and the Chinese with missile technology, and now Obama opens the door for their attack by scaling back on missile defense technology. Their duplicity is complete that while they give away our nuclear power technology and encourage its use in other countries (as a front for creating other nuclear powers), but they go out of their way to block its use here in the U.S. The Dems are the only party that gets away with damning double-standards on every front, most recently also with racism in the Supreme Court.
Along the way, the Republicans are at fault for the following things: Compromising principles; allowing leftist moles (moderates) to infect the party, gradually pulling it left away from its conservative roots; Bush's "new-tone" in Washington was his biggest mistake, betraying truly fiscally conservative practices; Blue-blood Republicans thinking their social ties to Democrat friends are more important than American values and principles, especially in defense of the Constitution, shows they're not really there to sacrifice anything or serve anyone. Being a Republican and sympathetic to their mistakes, I offer that the appearance of fiscal irresponsibility for Bush was a function of national security with a war on terror Mr. Bush did not ask for, but responded to, along with a Congress that sought to use trickery to advance their welfare state. If not for a strong national defense, all other debate is futile as we will lose our way of life to our enemies.
Yes, I go easy on the Republicans because they've allowed themselves to be wooed by Big Money Special Interests and human reason that defies principles based on the hard, seemingly unfair truths of rugged individualism, that people should be responsible for themselves and their own families. Hegelian philosophy has moved them to the left ever so gradually, and this too must be reversed!
Note: The Republicans have never had the power the Dems have repeatedly had since the Progressive movement began. How much blame can be assigned to Republicans when they've not had the power to push through a Conservative agenda? Perhaps they need their chance with such a clear majority.

- I am one of the organizers of the Southwest MI Tea Party Patriots. We started out as the Kalamazoo Tea Party but soon recognized that we need to organize on congressional districts and we incorporated as SWMI Patriots.
We had a rally on April 15th and have one planned for July 4th. We have about 600 contacts in total so far. I have been looking for some one in Berrien County to work with in setting up a rally for July 4th. I was planning on driving down to St. Joe next week to ask around and see if we could find someone to work with.
Were you at the Tea Party Convention in Lansing on Sat? Was a good meeting; got to meet with other MI organizers who are now getting to be old friends.

What I find interesting is I bet they sign something every 6 months or so saying they won't take money in all these ways and then they go ahead and do it anyway. I'm sure it's all illegal somewhere. When I was working for MWR for the Air Force in Okinawa, we had to sign a statement every 6 months telling us what was illegal and swearing we would not do it. It involved having lunch paid for us to using Govt. property for personal use etc, etc and yet for a while one of the managers was living out of one of the offices and another used a "blue truck" to move his belongings from one place to another. Nothing was done ever about this stuff. Another guy would sit and play solitaire on his government computer all day while all of us spouses with degrees (he did not have one) would do all the work and get paid a small portion of what he did. He was a Vet so he had special hiring. That is another flaw but one for a different time
