Who is Tea Party of West Michigan?

We are a grassroots, non-partisan group of concerned citizens from West Michigan. We are not affiliated with any politician, Issue group, company, religious organization, or political party. Our group is open to every citizen of West Michigan that is interested in advancing our mission statement. If you believe our mission statement to be valid, and you want to fight to get our country back, we want you. We feel our country is on the wrong path and has been for many years. We share the same principles of our founding fathers; a desire for Liberty and a contempt for Tyranny. We will have issue oriented and vote oriented discussions and actions as long as they are within the guiding principles of the U.S. Constitution and our 6 common sense principles. We also plan to have more tea parties as a way to inform West Michiganders how far off track we, as a nation, have come and to grow our group because we hope that numbers will convince our representatives that they can no longer ignore us! MISSION STATEMENT OF WEST MICHIGAN TEA PARTY To influence policy and effect the election of government officials who will defend and protect the original meaning of our Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights. WEST MICHIGAN TEA PARTY CORE PRINCIPLES These are the positions which we encourage government officials to actively and vocally take as they protect and defend the original meaning of our founding documents. • To protect religious liberty as a foundation of this nation and its governments. • To protect individual property rights as a foundation to our personal and individual liberty. • To support a limited government by: o Restricting the Federal government to its constitutionally enumerated powers. o Returning the Federal government to less than 16% of GDP. o Restoring full States’ rights. o Supporting only strict constructionist judges. o Supporting and promoting a simple and just tax system. o Requiring a super majority in both houses of Congress for any new tax or any tax increase. o Eliminating ineffective spending • To effectively secure our borders and enforce immigration laws. • To permanently resolve the enormous and unsustainable burdens created by Social Security and Medicare. • To oppose a federally administered universal health care system, and to support a just private health insurance system and make it available to all citizens. • To protect the sovereignty of the United States in all international agreements.
