Guys, this is from the Republican Fix Michigan center on Leonard. I thought it was pretty good so I'm posting it here.

Greetings,

As you certainly are aware, President Obama and the Democrats in Congress are on the verge of ramming their version of health insurance “reform” through Congress. Despite the majority of Americans voicing objections to the current bill, despite Republicans attempting to democratically and pragmatically address this issue, the Democrats are preparing to force the Obamacare bill through by bending legislative rules and subverting the will of the people. We cannot let this happen. Here at the Fix Michigan Center, we are prepared to do everything in our means to make our voices heard and stop this bill. However, we need your help.

Here are the urgent action items from the Center of which you can be a part:

• We have “Stop Obamacare” petitions available at the FMC. If you would like to be on the front lines of putting a stop to this legislation, stop by the Center/Kent GOP to pick up a clipboard. We need as many signatures as possible to send a warning to our elected officials that we are watching, and we need your help to make this happen before Congress votes on the bill.
• The Grand Rapids Press and other popular newspapers accept and publish “Letters to the Editor” in each paper. Write the editor, tell them what you think, and get the message out to the entire community!
• Call, write, or email your elected officials, tell them we do not want this bill and we will hold them accountable for their actions accordingly. They work for us, and they are responsible to us.
• Organize your friends and family on Facebook and Twitter. Keep your personal networks up to speed on the latest developments, get their signatures on the petition; get them involved in putting a stop to this. If you are interested in our Facebook and Twitter training seminars, contact us for details.

We all recognize the need for reform. However, this massive, incomprehensible bill for which we do not have the money is not the answer. Now is the time to get involved and do something about what is happening in this state and in this country. President Obama himself asked us to “make our voices heard.” I wonder if he and Congressional Democrats are prepared for the response.

"Oh, Canada? Mackinac Center Videos Expose the Harm of Government Health Care"

From: Mackinac Center newsletter, "Impact" WINTER 2009
The Mackinac Center for Public Policy www.mackinac.org

The Mackinac Center newsletter, Impact, contains a stunning article that exposes the lie perpetrated in Michael Moore's film "Sicko" which asserts that many Americans flee to Canada to benefit from their "superior" health care system.

Mackinac Center Senior Legislative Analyst Jack McHugh with assistance from Nadeem Esmail at the Fraser Institute, and John Mark Green, an experienced former television journalist who previously worked for the Alabama Policy Institute traveled to Vancouver, British Columbia to meet with victims of Canada's health care system who for years suffered unbelievable pain and indignities while waiting on lists for treatment.

In Maritime Provinces, videographer Green documented the shocking practice of bureaucracies in small towns holding a "lottery" to determine who will -- and who will not -- be assigned to a primary care physician. These physicians act as gatekeepers to the rest of Canada's health care system.

In this process they also discovered, the practice of "medical tourism." Kelly Meloche, founder and CEO of International HealthCare Providers arranges "vacations" to America so that Canadians can get the medical care they require. Six short videos on youtube document the findings of these investigative reporters. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPFK6aLJec8
is the first in the series.

A group called the RSC (Rep. Study Committee) issued a 20 page report on the House bill HR 3962. It is very detailed.
RSC report 091107
Link
http://www.aapsonline.org/legislative-bulletin-11-07-09.pdf

Key points from the first two pages....

"Key Conservative Concerns / Take-Away Points
-- Constitutionality: The U.S. Constitution and the principle of limited government are tested as never before by forcing Americans to purchase ―acceptable‖ health care coverage or face a tax of 2.5% of modified adjusted gross income. The definition provided in the bill for ―acceptable‖ coverage will surely force some Americans to purchase plans that include coverage they cannot afford, or don‘t want or need.
-- Illegal Immigrants: The bill fails to adequately address citizen verification for individuals applying for low-income affordability subsidies, or enrolling in Medicaid/CHIP, or enrolling in high risk pools.
-- Funds Abortions: The permits federal funds to be spent on abortion services
-- Lack of Medical Liability Reform: Trial lawyers get off scot-free as Democrats pay lip service to real medical malpractice reform, opting to hand over money for lawyer-friendly ―alternatives‖ instead of limiting attorneys‘ fees or capping damages.
-- Forced out of Current Plans: Government-run plan will force tens of millions out of the coverage they currently have while Members of Congress are not subject to the same health care system Americans will have to live by.
-- Increases Premiums: The Democrats‘ health care plan will increase premiums. As JCT, CBO and six other studies have shown, imposing new taxes on insurance policies, health care products, and various new insurance regulations will be drive up the cost for patients of all ages in the form of higher premiums. Industry reports found that the youngest 30% of the population will see a 69% increase under the 2:1 age band included in the Pelosi Government Healthcare Takeover Bill.
--Increases Personal Health Expenditures: CMS Actuaries predicts overall national health expenditures under the bill due to various regulations will jump by 2.1 percent, or $750.3 billion.
-- Bends the Curve in the Wrong Direction: According to CBO ―On balance, during the decade following the 10-year budget window, the bill would increase both federal outlays for health care and the federal budgetary commitment to health care, relative to the amounts under current law.‖
Page 2 of 20
-- Raises Taxes: The bill increases taxes by $766.6 billion over ten years. The bill also includes billions in cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, cutting benefits and raising premiums on seniors. Theses cuts are not used to reduce the deficit, but instead to create new entitlement programs.
-- Costs: The total cost of is nearly $1.3 trillion (not including the $210 billion ―Doc Fix‖) when including the cost to states for mandated Medicaid expansion ($34 billion) and authorized discretionary spending for grants, public programs, changes and funding for a variety of agencies that would be responsible for implementing H.R. 3962.
-- Government Takeover: Many conservatives may believe that the bill is a step away from personal, private coverage and choice, to a Washington-controlled healthcare system that rations care, limits choice, and reduces quality, innovation and competition."

Interesting to see moveon and organizing for america are funding this support. Organizing for America is the same group as Organizing for Obama trying to get him elected. George Soros is Moveon, org. Liberal to the max and hollywood funded. They also funded Hillary, Bill, John Kerry, Murtha, Boxer, Feinstien, Patterson, Burris and many others with connections to Obama.

FACTOID #11

Health Care – States of Personal Privilege

How good is Baucus’ health reform bill? So good that Democrats have made sure some of the most costly provisions don’t apply to their own states.

The Senate Finance Committee is gearing up for a final vote next week. Getting this far has of course meant cutting deals, and those deals, it turns out, are illuminating. The senators are all for imposing “reform” on the nation, so long as it doesn’t disadvantage their constituents.

A central feature of the bills is for the vast expansion of state Medicaid programs. The provision has angered governors, since the federal government will cover only part of the expansion. The “states, with our financial challenges right now, are not in a position to accept additional Medicaid responsibilities,” griped Democratic Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland.

Poor Mr. Strickland. If only he lived in . . . Nevada! Sen. Harry Reid worked out a deal by which the federal government will pay all of his home state’s additional Medicaid expenses for the next five years. Nevada and three other states qualify for this perk, on the grounds, as Mr. Reid put it recently, that they “are suffering more than most.”

Tell that to Mr. Strickland, who is still trying to figure out how to close an $850 million budget hole in a state with 11% unemployment. And tell it to Sen. Lamar Alexander, who quipped: “I wonder how citizens in Wyoming, California and other states will feel if they pay more taxes so that Nevadans can pay less taxes.”

To pay for the bill, Mr. Baucus’ legislation would tax high-value insurance plans – a 40% tax.

That is, unless you live in a state such as New York. Sen. Chuck Schumer didn’t want a lot of angry overtaxed New Yorkers on his hands, so he and other Democrats carved out a deal by which the threshold for this tax will be higher in their states. This carve-out applies to 17 (largely blue) states.

The Baucus bill, we are assured, will successfully “bend down” the health-care cost curve. Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow isn’t counting on it when it comes to some of her constituents. She and Mass. Sen. John Kerry included $5 billion in the bill for a program designed to defray the medical costs of union members.

So, health-care “reform” is good, smart and necessary, so long as it isn’t fully applied to the states of the senators who are pushing it.

I just got this from my Media Research Center alerts. We still have our work cut out for us.

Brent Bozell appeared on “Fox & Friends” this morning, and dropped a health care bombshell broken by MRC’s own CNSNews.com …

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid plans to sneak a mystery health care bill through Congress and to the President with no debate and no public scrutiny …

And the most reprehensible aspect of Reid’s expected move—the bill will be written in some back room in the Capitol, and no one will know what’s in it until it becomes the law of the land. Just like the “stimulus” bill!

What we do know is that it will be a trillion-dollar experiment with drastic cuts in Medicare, massive tax increases, and more ways for the government to make your personal health care decisions for you.

Reid is such a jerk!
T. Ryder Comment by T. Ryder on October 8, 2009 at 3:54pm
Under the current Healthcare reform before congress, persons here illegally would be entitled to the same coverage (under gov run plan) as US citizens, as the Congressional Budget Office has stated. I guess Wilson was right. And as for pre-existing conditions, Sen Harry Reid of AZ has added an amendment that would exempt AZ Insurance Cos from having to cover pre-existing conditions. That's why he is against purchasing insurance accross state lines. Recent report shows of all Healthcare Insurance, Medicare has the highest number of denials due to pre-existing conditions, as compared to private Insurance companies. The devil is in the details!

Just think how hard is will be for President Obama to give just one unwavering, unequivocal answer. Normally I wouldn't expect this of our leader, but with him dominating our media broadcasts with informercials and a late-nightstand-up comedy act how can we expect anything less?
